Where

Where is your favorite place to read?
Sitting in a bin full of your sister's barbies?

Well that just so happens to be his.

Fairy Stairs

Sophia thread these little balls on thread and we intend to hang them in her window.  She is calling them her fairy stairs.  "You know the fairies use them when their wings get tired and they want to walk."

This was a great first real needle project easy to manipulate the pieces.

42, 43,& 44

A Birthday!!  Sophia's buddy from birth turned 4!  We are so proud to know him.  What a wonderful little man he is.  He oohed and ahhhed at all his gifts and was just his typical polite self.  When he was just a wee one he tripped and broke his leg.  Being in my crafty mode I asked his parents for the x-ray and cut out a stencil.
Then we had a happy accident.  I didn't get a clean stencil for the shirt and David stuck his finger in it.  "Fix it!"  I demanded.  So he drew up a little Kai for me and a skeleton that I carved into a stamp.  After stamping the shirt I made a couple of patches for the pants.

Then Sophia spotted the pattern for this on Bread and Buttons. http://breadandbuttons.typepad.com/blog/

She picked the fabric from my stash and then the supplies.  This was easy to sew up, the pattern is a great design.  I do believe if you have a birthday and invite us you will be getting one of these little gems for your kiddos!  I plan to make one for each of mine. Great for a restaurant!

40 & 41 of 48

So my gifts don't always make it in time.  So they are almost a month late.  So what they do make it and well this one I was ohh so proud of.
Wool covered soap done with the help of 4 little hands so it was a bit wonky but still wonderful.  The bags were made with remnant fabrics I bought maybe 8 years ago at a bag sale at SCRAPS in Portland.

Another bag

Arm warmers with a little something, something sewed on.  Yarn I bought last year to make hats with and never got around to.  Liked this much better then the hats!

Sachet made with a silk I had a scrap of.  Sophia and Logan painted and stamped.  It is filled with Lavender we picked at the farm this summer and the kids de-stemmed it.  Sophia helped me sew it.  As you can see the seems are well wonderfully wobbly!

My little cutie hijacks the camera again!

Sophia found the camera while I was at work and the most interesting progression of pictures popped up in the midst of her barbies and doll pictures.

When asked why he was crying she said "Logan wanted the camera"  Why did he start smiling? "Cuz I showed him the picture I made of him."
In picture two you can see our good ole boy Blue sleeping right through the whole thing.

Falling Behind

January... What happened to you??  I seem to have been in a funk or a daze...both.  Children not sleeping the bank account emptying, working magic with leftovers is a lost art.  Don't misinterpret this as a poor me post.  Life is good, no life is terrific.  I have a wonderful house, though we do have one broken toilet we have two others that work perfect, we have heat, food on the table and in the cabinets.  Two cars that purrrr us around from place to place.  I still get my weekly coffee fix (Thanks GAB & GUR).  I work with some outstanding peeps and we have the most amazing students that awe me daily.  Then you add in a fab husband and two lovely little ones that keep me on my toes and the laundry rolling in.  Truly what more could a Momma want? (a little more sleep ahem).

This morning the sun was peeking out after a lot of rain, we again counted our blessing and said hallelujah to the Zoo pass my mom bought Logan for his birthday last year.  After spending only $4.50 on an elephant ear (who can resist them?) we had a wonderful free day.

To all this I say I am thankful today and everyday for all the wonderful things that I have rolling my way.  I do have one request though...  can we put the breaks on just a little?

Lovely

What a lovely January.  I am happily into the year 2011.  Wishing and dreaming of some snow.  The Christmas decorations are put away and the house is semi cleaned and all is right in the world today!
