Special Easter Visitors

She-Ra made an appearance today!
I know!  Can you believe that costume made by our very own Mimi! Pictures don't do it justice!  There are little jeweled shorts under there.

She took a little ride with us in the car with her super hero sidekick Logan-Man.
He was hot.

Then of course the Easter Egg hunt at Baba's (in the house again raining!)

The food was absolutely amazing anyone who knows Mom has a good idea how awesome it was.  We all took a nap.

Norman Rockwell

In my sons room hangs a pair of Norman Rockwell photos of a boy and his beagle.  These were actually purchased at an auction in Kelso for my husband.  He grew up with beagles had them as a kid.   Well looking at these photos on the wall I often wonder what in my life resembles a Norman Rockwell?

I got nothin!  HAHA

Watermelon

We got the first watermelon of the year.  I know it was shipped from some foreign country,  the price of it in fuel etc is terrible on the environment yet after a winter of apples and pears I was glad to have it.
This is all that's left...what can I say we love our fruit!

Give me my bear back!!

Blue our faithful beagle has a weakness for stuffed animals.  He always has one that is a favorite.  Well they get wet slobbery and stinky so I toss them in the wash.  You would think I had tossed it in the trash by how Blue responds.   The poor thing spends the entire wash and spin cycle staring and whimpering.  What you don't believe me?  Well here is my photographic proof!
Staring

whimpering

Still staring, but standing because the buzzer went off. Soon his best friend will be back....in his mouth, slobbered on, and loved.

It's not the cooking it's the tools!

It was always Phia in the kitchen but now the tides have turned and it is Logan.
After a lot of spilled flour the realization hit... He loves the tools!  The blender, the coffee maker, the mixer and yes any utensil but especially the tongs.  I wonder if this is how all great chefs start out?

48 of 48!

I did it!  I also have shorts and a shirt for Logan to post about if I can keep them on him!
So here is the final dress.
"Phia let me get a picture of the dress"
"This is modeling Momma."
"Is that so?"
"Yes, but little girls do it this way."

Another dress from the "Sewing Clothes Kids Love".

BLOOD!

So we go to JJ Jump and they go full boar for an hour and a half!  We are thinking... oh yeah they are gonna nap!
Then Logan scales the back seat of the car and busts his lip open!  BLOOD Phia yells!  Was she ever right that kid bleeds like his dad.  The blood gushed out of him and there was no nap to be had after all that excitement.  Oh well they had a great time anyway.

He must of climbed this thing 40 times.

What's for Dinner

The famous story of Ginger and the paper bag.
For several dinners I brought a brown paper bag to dinner, set it on the table next to me and ate.
Mom kept asking whats in the bag and I told her worms.
She laughed and on with dinner we went.
Then one night I mistakenly left the table without my bag.
When she opened it to look in and saw actual worms I heard the scream from outside and rushed in to see what was the matter.
Needless to say I was not allowed to bring them to dinner again.
Here is my girl... What more can I say!

Activity

Spring Break
Weather stinks
We see a break in the clouds, we make a run for the park.
We feel the hint of a sprinkle, we sprint for the car.
What lovely faces in their winter parkas in April!

MUD

We made a break for the duck park with a picnic lunch and the hopes a few dry minutes to eat it.
Logan hit the grass at a sprint chasing a duck and splat in the largest mud puddle in the entire park. So in the course of 10 minutes we had a naked boy in the carseat and we ate our lunch in the car. Always an adventure!

We had an extra coat in the car but no pants or shoes.

Clearly she is still having fun!

ArTIST!

Love this picture! Can you see her name in the corner she has most of the letters but they are artfully out of order.  This is me and I am wearing a skirt with a dress over the top.  I think I look lovely.

Blog Pause

As you may have noticed I have been taking periodic blog pauses.  It seems at times that life just sprints away.  All the things I want to do get put on that back burner for those things that have to be done.  We have hit a mighty pot hole in our road of life as of late and then subsequently got stuck in the mud.  I try to always keep this place on the positive and so please excuse my lapse into negative Nellie mode.

David lost his job in October and has been subbing ever since.  We have done all the things we know to do to cut back on spending...no more cable, no yard waste, took out the land line for the phone and cut back in every other way we can think of.  So... as I am typically very frugal this should be just another challenge but in some ways this is like survivor and I did not addition for the show.

So as we work through this as many other Americans do we find that some ridiculous things hold true
  • Healthy food fruits and veges are expensive (crappy food mac and cheese are cheap)
  • When you can't get your kid to sleep and a drive around the block will easily do it sometimes it's worth putting a few bucks in gas and eating mac and cheese again for dinner
  • Kids underwear cost $12.00 for 5  two kids you you do the math
  • 2nd hand clothes from friends are a true blessing
  • Free babysitting on Fridays with Baba typically includes a good lunch for the kids and extra food and fruit for the family
  • Crummy weather really blows when you are looking for free entertainment to wear your kids out
  • Banks really don't give a rip about actual people and making homes affordable program is a joke
  • Free weekly coffee is truly something to look forward to
  • Family is really the only necessity
I know most people want to hang on to stuff when the money runs out.  I on the other hand want to toss everything.  I look around at the excess toys, clothes, and junk and see money previously wasted that we could be using now and I just want it gone.  We have taken 2 loads to the second hand shop and my hopes is to take 2 more by the end of the week.

So here I say to to the cyber universe I give up my need to control this situation.  It is all as it should be.   All of you in my boat I salute you.  Keep on paddling around the rocks, it's all down stream from here.
