Christmas Decorations in November?

I know it seriously!  They saw them at Michaels when we went to get the paper for the books and they could not wait to dive into them.  Logan was satisfied making one but Sophia kept going until they were all done.  The difference between three and five is amazing.

                                                \

She already has a plan who they should go to.
Anyone know Frosty the Snowman's address?

Birthday is a Coming!!

Sophia is turning 6 in a couple of days!!  She is having a cupcake party at school which we have never done before.  She never wanted to... but now alas she does and so we shall.  21 cupcakes and a little something gluten free for the teacher and we made these blank books to pass out as an educational party favor we may add pencils but that's only if I remember in time.  These are so easy to make and paper and thread.
6 my golly!

Seriousness

Today Logan had an evaluation.  He is still not able to get those blasted words out. Oh but how that little boy tries.  He gestures, he signs, he spits out some gobblygook and bless his enormous heart he forgives when you don’t get it.   I just love that guy! Well of course he went in there and was just as sweet as he could be all smiles and happy to please.  I was such a proud Mama as I often am.

Then came the psychologist who could not have been sweeter.  She rattled off a list of questions and I answered away.  Then came the moment...the moment when you just want to shrivel up and step onto the deepest darkest part of the planet.

So what is Logan good at?  Of course this thrilled me to no end to talk about what he is good at.

He can build anything,  he will see something once and go build it out of legos, playdough or bits of string and sticks.  Anything like vehicles, buildings or weapons.
Yes that’s right I just told a psychologist that my 3 year old son is a master at building weapons.  Then the studder and the save.
He also rides his bike without training wheels, walks on a balance beam without help and can climb anything.

Now I am proud of my little master builder of all things dangerous but maybe next time I won’t share that with the school psychologist.

Fairy Sale

The kids were off on their own and quiet.  A sure sign that they are up to no good... but not this time.  They had this little store set up for fairies to visit.  All kinds of things that they need in their outside travels.  Necklaces, umbrellas and of course some transportation a star fighter and motorcycle.  The slips of paper say how much they cost.  When asked how the fairies would pay Sophia said they would bring good wishes for now and money later.

When it all disappeared a few days later they were sure those stinky fairies took the stuff and forgot to pay.  (Note to self leave a few pennies next time)

A little belated Halloween Love!

I love Halloween!  The costumes, fall, pumpkins (pumpkin lattes) and yes the candy.  I know it's not good for me and the tire around my waist is growing but I still love it.  We have a candy Fairy tradition.  The kids eat whatever they want on Halloween and then leave the rest to be replaced with a special toy.  They love it we love it and we secretly eat their candy at night. (I know awful right!)
This year Aunt Hillarie came to visit and I was told by Sophia that I would not be going trick or treating because that is an "Aunts job" kell nightmare.  After getting over my initial sadness and being allowed to get their picture on their way to the first door I went back home and sat ALONE in my house with my husband and had a nearly uninterrupted conversation (a few trick or treater's).  It was lovely!!!!
Here are the cuties on their way out.  The dead Ballerina, Captain America and Lalaloopsi doll.

Yeah that ones mine :)

Just a little giggle fun with Hill!

The Cutest show on earth!

Sophia has a knack.  When we go somewhere and they ask for a volunteer she gets picked.  This summer at the fair this cowboy needed a volunteer to hand him a whip while he was riding around on a unicycle (don't ask)  Sure enough Sophia went up there and charmed the crowd by THROWING the whip at him.  It was hilarious and a little mama pride she has a good right arm.
Then we went on down the way and they were having a show using the kids in the audience and there she is a cowgirl.  Logan wanted nothing to do with this he was happy to hide out on my lap and watch.

Ahh I miss the lazy days of summer!

Crave

We finally went to the bakery in Portland Crave that won the cupcake wars.  I have to admit I am the type to just eat the frosting right off the top and dump the cake.  These however were so yummy I ate the crumbs off the wrapper!  If you come to Portland they are a must visit!

13 of 48

I am slightly behind on my 48 projects but I have time and I am known to whip out a few projects in a weekend when I get the wind beneath my sails so hold on!

I can't tell you what this is for because it may be a Christmas present or it may not be as Sophia is very attached to it at the moment.  The pattern is from a Vogart pattern for ball point painting which I have never heard of.  We hit a garage sale in our neighborhood this summer and it was .25 for a holiday pack.

I am not the fastest at embroidery so it took me all of last weekend to stitch it.  I am happy with how it turned out.  The linen is from my stash and I have a chunk of it left so will probably make a couple more of these.

Alignment

Do you ever have one of those days where you just feel like your world is in alignment? Where life is unbelievably good?

Where nothing is, was, or will ever be, wrong in your universe?
Well that’s the kind of day today was.

Then you climb in the car to work and take a bite of your egg sandwich, and yes I am eating an egg sandwich, and it dribbles all over your front? Well on a day like today, a day in alignment, you giggle and think to yourself well at least I don’t have egg on my face.

You wipe yourself off and you go back to thinking how awesome it is to be in the world today.

The rains trickling down and the leaves are falling and my small corner of the world is good.

Sending love and light to all those in need I seem to be having an abundance today

Super easy and adorable!  This was fabric I got from a friend at work who was downsizing her stash and happily upsizing mine.  Sophia wore this most of the summer.

She helped by pushing the foot pedal and requested the crossed back.
CUTE and easy!

Do-over

Do over!  I just want a do-over.  I want to turn back the clock a few months and start this summer over. It seems just yesterday I had time and sleep stretching out in front of me.
Today was a good last day... busy but good.  Laundry, the final good cleaning, meal planning, all those miscellaneous things that need to be taken care of.  The kids played and we took a park break and they cleaned when asked.  We three took today slow and easy while Daddy went back to work and we decided that we wanted to go back to the beginning when we had guests visiting and a beach house and the sand between our toes.

So here we say Goodbye summer of 2012 we loved you!

Painted cheese

Sick of the everyday toasted cheese?? Well add a little art to it.  Milk with a drop or two of food coloring and paint your bread.  Don't get it too soggy.
Yummm!

Gak at ya!

Got a recipe for Gak on Pinterest which I am completely addicted to!  This stuff was awesome and we had it around for a couple of weeks before it got a little to nasty to play with.  If you haven't tried it absolutely worth it!
Keeping it real that is the typical mess on my counters and yes that is a basket of clean folded laundry a mile high in the shot.

This was way more fun and "important" than the laundry.

You never know what your Aunt will teach ya!

Written from the perspective of Logan and Sophia.

Aunt Hill has moved to Portland!!!  Wooohoo we are thrilled!  Well we are and we think our parents are except...

Dylan and Hillarie went out to eat with us and taught us how to shoot spit balls with our straws...
Hillarie taught Sophia how to cross one eye and make the other straight...
Then Dylan taught Logan that he doesn't like hot peppers, he didn't cry but said yeck...
And best of all we learned how to make fire by rubbing two sticks together.
Our Aunt Hillarie and her boyfriend Dylan are awesome and we are so glad they live near us!!!

Welcome to Portland Hillarie we are ALL glad you are here!

Shapes for lunch

I am not the most fabulous cook.  I am happy when the food hits the table and is eaten.  This day though I was a rock star and there sits the turkey star to prove it.  This was a total winner!

He who climbs trees!

He who climbs trees shall have many memories.
This poor little tree in front of our house.  How it survives with the lack of water and the constant climbing I will never know.  It has become Logan's "giving tree"

...and the tree was happy.

"Sewing Clothes Kids Love"  I love this book.  So far of the 5 patterns I have used none have been stinkers.  How they go together is sometimes a mystery but they always turn out nice and truly unique.
This one is my favorite so cute and I love the embellishments we picked.

It is all one piece with some hidden elastic around the waist so you don't have to untie the bow.  The fit is nice as well.

The magic wand fabric is what I used for Sophia's new school lunch box.  The under dress is stash fabric as well as the ribbon.  The charm is also stash it says laugh.
This is my favorite sewing project to date for her.  She will wear it the first day of school then we shall see if it is a real winner!

Star Wars Jello Molds

David brought these back from Comic Con.  It is the Death Star and the grey one is Han Solo frozen in Carbonite and then Boba Fett bought it to Jabba the Hutt.

We made fruit snacks using jello

Love the back pack and Sophia carrying her Cat.
The fruit snacks were terrible but they have been making ice in them non-stop Logan floats the death stars in the pool in the back yard until they melt.  Very cool now I want to fill them with chocolate :)
